Resomation attend Good Death Week events in Scotland
Good Death Week takes place every year in May with events held across Scotland. It gives individuals and organisations the opportunity to promote the positives of living in a society where people can be open about dying, death and bereavement.
Our founder Sandy Sullivan as a member of the Scottish Cross Party Bereavement Group attended the Edinburgh event earlier this week.
At the event, there was a welcome from Richard Lyle MSP, Convener of the Cross Party Group on Bereavement, a short talk from Good Life Good Death Good Grief’s Robert Peacock and an insight from Golden Charter CEO Suzanne Grahame, on the role of funeral directors in promoting a good death in the community. There was also inspiring excerpts from a short film – 20 takes on death and dying – produced by the Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief alliance.
This bringing together of leading thinkers from policy networks, parliament and the third sector was an excellent opportunity for reflection on the changing societal culture around death and dying, to share ideas, and to listen to each other. The event provided an opportunity for those in attendance to celebrate the excellent work of civic Scotland in championing the rights of the bereaved and promoting a culture of open conversation around death and dying.
