The Netherlands to consider water cremation as an alternative to burial and flame cremation

“Over the last 10 years Resomation Ltd has been working closely with various organisations in the Netherlands producing market research data, environmental comparisons to flame cremation and burial and health and safety data for the Dutch government. The final step was the overall assessment of the Alkaline Hydrolysis process (previously referred to as “ Resomeren process” in the Dutch language) by the Dutch Health Council prior to any legislative approval .

After concluding the process meets the three value requirements of safety, dignity and sustainability, the Health Council of the Netherlands have published  an advisory report which proposes to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) it is acceptable that Alkaline Hydrolysis is to be introduced as an alternative method of body disposal.
