Resomation Selected for Groundbreaking Pilot Study in Belgium

Advancing Sustainable End-of-Life Care in Europe

We’re excited to announce that Resomation has been awarded the contract to supply a Resomator system for a pioneering pilot study commissioned by the Belgian government.

Launching in October 2025, the study will explore the regulatory framework for alkaline hydrolysis — also known as water cremation — in Flanders, Belgium. This initiative marks a major step forward in the region’s efforts to evaluate sustainable, alternative end-of-life practices.

The study will be conducted using donated bodies from medical schools, allowing researchers and policymakers to examine the process in practice. The findings will help inform future legislation around the ethical, environmental, and technical aspects of water cremation.

Resomation is proud to contribute our technology and expertise to this important initiative. We believe alkaline hydrolysis has a vital role to play in providing modern, compassionate, and environmentally responsible aftercare.

♻️ A positive move towards greener choices and greater dignity in end-of-life care. We look forward to supporting the study and sharing further updates as the project develops.
